TAMPICO, September 20.
Tho known death-roll as a result of Sunday's hurricane, placed officially on Monday night at 50, is correct. Three hundred were injured. ■ The first ostiniato waa 5000 dead.
Much of the city is laid waste. It is fcarod, however, that many more bodies arc buried in the debris or have not been recovered from, the water which twirled in from the overflowing rivers to cover tho low-lying sections. Unofficial estimates state that the injured number thousands. Half the .centre of the city proper remains 'intact.
Hundreds of people aro homeless and aro huddled in municipal buildings, schools, and parks, AH aro being supplied with small rations- of corn, beans, and ' coffee from, the mcagro supplies remaining. The water supply is exhausted, and an epidemic is foared.
