V.M.C.A. APPEAL

■ The V.M.C.A. Queen Carnival appeal will conclude on Saturday, when the final results of the voting will be declared. The present position of the respective queens is as follows:—Miss Joi Denby, 19,750; Miss Gwenda Norman. 22,563; Miss Dorothy Hay, 42,475; Miss Paddy Hope Gibbons, 35,198. The amounts received to date are:—Citizens' appeal, £612 19s 8d; Queen Carnival appeal, £408 15s 3d; total. £1021 14s lid. The four Queen Carnival committees will combine in an effort on Saturday afternoon on the occasion of the garden party to be held in the grounds of "Ngaroma," the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hope B. Gibbons,' Queen's Drive,_ Lyall Bay. Various attractions are included in the programme, and a good response is anticipated from the public.
