Y.W.C.A. YEAR

RECORD OF ACTIVITIES

"The securing- of funds.for the maintenance of our work has absorbed much of tho thought, time, and energy of the board; committees, and staff," states the annual report of the Young Women's Christian Association, to be presented at the annual meeting tonight. "It is a matter, for great thankfulness that the cafeteria has ended the year with a, small credit. Tho splendid increase in numbers, and consequently in takings, in the Brougham Street residence is also .a matter for congratulation.

"Our women's membership is still far too small in view of the size of the city and the tremendous possibilities for development of our work given more intelligent interest and more, adequate service on tho part, of the women of. the community,'' continues tho report. "While the membership fee may constitute a difficulty for some in these hard times, it is a question whether our difficulty in securing-new members does not arise from the way in which; we present membership to women. It is incumbent upon us to try and give to women a truer conception of th<? i function .of the Y.W.C.A.'

"With the smooth functioning of the ■Women's Unemployment Bureau, the demands upon us for material assistance have lessened .considerably. Nevertheless, ivo have constantly been able to give help. Train- and boat fares, medicine, assistance with clothing, the provision of a mattress, the giving of a free meal and room when necessary, have been characteristic ways of helping. Work in connection with tho association has been provided regularly in some cases."

The statement of accounts shows a satisfactory credit balance.
