YESTERDAY'S SHOW

LOVELY DISPLAY

An even larger number of visitors attended the Wellington Horticultural Society's Spring Flower Show yesterday than is usual "for this popular event, and the Town Hall was filled with gardening enthusiasts and flower lovers long before the arrival of his Excellency Lord Bledisloe, who opened the show.

Her Excellency was wearing a frock of pale green wool crepe, a smart upturned hat to match, and a grey squirrel coat. Miss Harris wore a smart frock of cornflour' blue with a closefitting hat and eye-veil. As their Excellencies took their places on the stage, Lady Bledisloe was presented with a bouquet of native flowers by little Barbara Ma«Kenzie, and his Excellency with a buttonhole" spray of clematis by Master Richard Seddon.

With their Excellencies on the stage were Mrs. Knox Gilnver (president of the Wellington Horticultural Society), who was wearing a silk crepe suit in a small brown and white pattern, a wide-brimmed brown straw fiat, and a brown fur necklet; Mrs. G. W. Forbes, in a navy tailored suit with ermine necklet and navy and white straw hat; Lady Myers, who, wore, a grey cloth coat with scarf collar of Persian lamb and grey felt hat; Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop, in a brown tweed coat and smart matching hat; and Mrs. D. S. Patrick, in an amber-shaded coat and hat of lighter shade. After the opening ceremony, Mrs. Knox Gilmer entertained a number of guests to tea. On the official table was a huge centre-bowl of beautiful bulbs, and at each place lay a posy of violets. . .
