WEATHER FOR WEEKEND
Wellington is likely to have mostly fair weather, though light rain is possible at times, according to the forecast issued at noon todaj'. In western districts of the South Island the weather will be fair to fine, but elsewhere it will be mainly cloudy to overcast, with scattered and irregular rains. Moderate to strong south-easterly winds will be ■experienced in the far south, elsewhere variable at first with northerlics prevailing over the North Island, but southerlies gradually becoming general. Since yesterday barometers have been altering appreciably over the Dominion, a shallow depression having been located along the west coast. Winds have been mostly only light or moderate in force, with north erlies prevailing in the North Island and southerlies in the South Island. Weather conditions have been somewhat variable, with considerable cloud about, and in most districts light scattered rain has fallen. In Auckland yesterday the weather was dull and misty, with, light rain at times and a light north-easterly wind. After a stormy night Wellington experienced a pleasant mild day with 7.6 hours of bright sunshine. A northerly wind was strong in the morning but died away during the afternoon. No rain fell in the city, but there was one point at Lower Hutt. Christehureh had a sunny day, a south-westerly breeze prevailing, but it became dull in the evening. In Dunedin it was unsettled, with continual rain, accompanied by a southerly breeze.
