MISSION TO AMERICA
DEVELOPING DAVIS CUP PAIR
NEW YORK, August 24. At Brooklino on Thursday the Australian tennis player, J. C. Crawford, stopped studying American methods long enough "to explain his mission to this country. "You know it is vital for our future Davis Cup hopes to develop a good doubles team this season," he said. "Four of us competed in the Davis Cup and the British and French championships without finding out our strongest combination, bnt we expect to have our problem solved for us at Long-wood. Maybe the doubles pair will be McGratii and myself, Turnbull i and myself, or Turnbull and Quist. You must not forget that we have no such galaxy of doubles teams in Australia as you have here. Accordingly we are handicapped when we make up our Davis Cup selections."
