Gallant Fox, who has been off the scene spelling since last . October, h reported from Duuedin as having rejoined bis owner, S. G. Ware's, team, at Wingatui, In four starts early last term his best effort was a second. . ' . ■ XW a five-year-old, this Hunting Song horse would have had a good record had he been easier to-train. At two years, when raced, by his breeder' (Mr. G. D. Beatson), he won the C.J.C. Russley Plate, and was unplaced four titaos. In ten starts at three years, when owned by Mr. G. J. Barton, he managed four wins, three seconds,, and a -third. Three of the wins were gained in"succession, the races being the Knikorni Handicap, one mile, at Winsatui. Tycho Handicap, six furlongs, at Washdyke, anil the Waikaka Handicap, one mile and a distance, at Gore. Later that season he won the Monowai Handicap, one mile,'at 'Rivertoh. Ware bought' him at the Barton dispersal sale for the good price of 360 guineas.
