NEW PLYMOUTH GALLOPS

(Special from "Hurry On.") NEW PLYMOUTH, August 25. The New Plymouth track was, again sodden for the work yesterday morning; when the galloping took place on the outside of the course proper. Several of the candidates for the Hunt Meeting tomorrow week were sent along; but most were restricted to useful tasks! Headmistress was doing better than Silk Sox at the end of five furlongs in lmin B%sec, but neither was ridden out. Glenvane impressed more than Chief Joy over a similar distance in lmin 7%sec. Glenvane is looking- and working well. Amyril and Tahurangi ran half a mile easily in sosec, both hitting out in pleasing style. .Glowlight and General Quex went twice round on the inside at an easy pace. The former was again slightly sore in front before going out, but soon shook it off. This trouble has her trainer puzzled at present. 1 Windscreen., and the Tigritiya. filly i sprinted a furlong down the back and then did steady pace work. Both are coming on nicely. Merry Way and Bold Bid \yent once : round at a steady three-quarter pace. Late in the morning on Tuesday this pair galloped half a mile ?n 52}4sec, and did it well. Merry Way is improving fast.
