JRaid lately has been making a name for'himself'in New Zealand as the sire of promising jumpers, and another of his stock, Star Ttaid, out of Bendowii, •won. the Brush Steeplechase, two mile?, at. Belmont Park (Perth) on August 12. The Paladin gelding Don Quixote, who lias been a flat racing failure, ran third. Star Raid's win was a surprise. On the same Any the Trial Stakes, seven furlongs and a half, was won by the second favourite Megaphone (Colossus—Hiimorescnie), and .the veteran Paper. Money gelding John ..Bradbury ran second in the Welter Handicap, over the same distance. Both Don -Quixote and Megaphone were formerly trained by. J. H. Jefierd. at. Sgatarawa.
