ZANOL CUP MATCH
Auckland withstood its first challenge in five years for the Zanol Cup, the New Zealand junior challenge trophy, by defeating Taranaki on Saturday by 6 goals to 3. The age limit, which was 24 years, permitted players of considerable experience to participate (says the "New Zealand Herald")> and as a result the game was a splendid exhibition of fast hockey and a much morfe even contest than the score indicates. The score was even at half-time, but in the second spell the superior play of the Auckland forwards in the circle produced four further goals, while the visitors were unable to penetrate the stubborn final lines of defence of the home team.
