The City Council last evening agreed to grant petty officers and men of tho Australian and New Zealand naval squadrons free tramway transport during the visit of the vessels to "Wellington next month, and also to make tha Town Hall available for'their entertainment, with the exception of ono evening, when the hall is otherwise required. , The Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop) moved that tho council should grant £10 towards the cost of entertainment, but his proposal was defeated by one vote. Mr. Hislop: Well, that's £10 not is circulation. .

Councillor P. M. Butler: Try us on a vote of £10 for the i'ree Ambulance.
