VALPEEN'S DAILY DOZEN
A horse who is trained pn. .a farm and whose exercise, according', to Ms .owner, consists chiefly'of chasing the cows, was the hero of the Pakuranga Hunt races at Ellerslie last Saturday (stales', the • "New Zealand Herald"). Owned and trained by a bx-onze-faced young man, ,MrV Gordon Campbell, who has a farm at Okoroire, Valpeen won the Greenmount Hunters' Steeplechase., and tho Pakuranga. ■ Hunt Cup, the two I'aces .'combined being worth £220 in specie and a gold cup valued at £25. The. feat of winning^ two- steeplechases' in one day at Ellerslie '.is most unusual, although after a long.span of years it was accomplished by Snow Prince at the Relief Meeting only; last mqnth.
