LAWN TENNIS

WAIWETU CLUB

The annual meeting of the Waiwctu Tennis Club was held this week, there being an excellent attendance. The annual report disclosed that the committee, after erecting a pavilion costing approximately £50, was able to show a small credit balance.

It .was decided to embark upon a policy of further improvements to" the courts and surroundings, and the incoming committee was instructed to go into the question of changing the layout of the Nos. 1 and 2 courts to an easterly and westerly direction. The opening day is fixed for September 30. '

Threo teams are to be entered in the Hutt Valley inter-club competitions in tho junior, third, and fourth grades. Twelve new members were elected.

The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. W. Nash, M.P.; president, Mr. It. S. Usmar; vice-pre-sident, Mr. E. L. Grant; life member, Mr. E. D. Smith; club captain, Mr. L. Hufton; vice-captain, Mr. W. Collie; secretary, Mr. B. Mitchell; treasurer, Mr. IT. Mackley; committee, Mr. Mullins, Mrs. Mitchell, Misses Anstis and Doran; auditor, Mr. F. Black; ladder secretary, Mr. N. .Clapham; delegates to the Hutt Valley Lawn Tennis SubAssociation, . Messrs. Usmar and Mitchell.
