OBITUARY

MR. EDWARD WILLIAM KNOX

SYDNEY, Juno 26. The death occurred today of Mr. I Edward "William Knox, former chairman and managing director of the Colonial Sugar Refining Co., Ltd., after a long illness. Mr. Knox was aged 86, and leaves a widow and four" daughters. One of the daughters is the wife of Mr. Colin Stephen, chairman of the Australian Jockey Club.

The official announcement of the retirement of Mr. Edward William Knox as chairman and managing director of the Colonial Sugar Ecfining Co. was made in May last.. He had been associated with the company for many years, and was considered to have contributed largely to its success, Born.in Sydney in 1847, ho was the sou of Sir Edward Knox, founder of the Colonial Sugar Co., and later its chairman of directors. Mr. Knox was a late Fellow of the Senate of Sydney University, and a prominent figure in civic and business life.
