WATT CUP MATCHES

Few things have, done as much for the minor clubs',..' standard of golf as the Watt Cup m,atches' for men, and the Mary Alward Cup for wonien. There is, however, a feeling in the clubs that tho full benefit of these contests would be more felt if the numbers taking part in the actual ' cup matches were increased. Taking a small club with four first-rate players, by no means an impossibility, only another couple of the "tail" of their team need win their matches to give them a very good chance. With the Watt Cup in progress the interclub match' losses its attraction to a large extent, as far as those taking part in the club contest only are concerned, yet the Watt Cup is distinctly a club event.
