LODGE MEETINGS
The recent monthly meeting of Wellington District and Degree Lodge was presided over by the District Deputy Grand Master (Bro. G. F. Rudkin, P.G.,"P.C.P.). Accounts totalling £54 17s 5d were passed. Four members of subordinate lodges were advanced to the second degree by the | District Degree ■ staff under Bro. R.. J. i:Mathers. Reports were received regard-. < ing official visits during the preceding! month, the D.D.G.M; extending con-' gratulationstc; Zealandia Lodge on a very, successful reunion of members. It was also reported that the district "500" shield had been won by Ngatitoa Lodge, which had defeated Wildey Lodge. Further reports included the half-yearly balancesheet, membership competition (shield won by Pride of Karori Lodge), District Medical Fund quarterly . balance, unemployed members' dues fund, annual picnic account, and district executive meeting. It was decided that Wellington district should be represented at the installation of the.Hutt Valley D.D.G.M. on March 30, and the Wairarapa D.D.G.M. on April 10. Judges were appointed for the term ritual jewel com; .titions, juvenile ritual shield competition, and degree ritual competition. Nominations for elective district officers were taken, election and that of a member of the local investment board to take place at the .April meeting.-i :•
The Atamai Encampment, No. 11, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., had its monthly meeting at Lower Hutt on' March 22,' the* Chief Patriarch, Bro. C. E. Tanner, presiding over a good attendance. Four Patriarchs were exalted to the Royal Purple Degree. It was decided that the installation of officers for next term shall take place on June 14. The guest of the evening ;vas Pat. F. Dales, C.P.. of Port Nicholson Encampment, who received a cordial welcome. Patriarch Robertson Taylor conveyed fraternal greetings from Geyser Lodge. . A pleasant evening ended with games for the "500" shield, between teams captained by the C.P. and S.W.
.The regular fortnightly meeting of Southern Cross Lodge. No. 24, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held recently, Bro. A. Ryan, V.G., presiding over a large attendance. Several brothers were reported on tile sick list and sick pay and other accounts were passed. Official visits were received from tho D.D.G.M:, Bro. G. P. Rmlkin, accom-. panied by the officers of District Lodge. Also present were the Degree Master, Bro. 0. E. Tanner, and officers ■of the Hutt Valley district, and members of Zealandia, Maraenui, and Kupe Lodges. Several invitations were accepted from kindred lodges. Two candidates were proposed, and the second nomination of officers was taken. During the evening a competition was held between the Hutt Valley and the Wellington district degree teams for the shield pi-esented by Bro. F. Dales. Both teams gave an effective rendering of the ritual, the, Wellington district winnine the shield by a very slight margin. A vote of welcome was extended to visitors and replied to by Bros. Ru.lkin.. C. E. Tanner, A. R. Thomas COnslow Lodge), T. Kay (Bellevue Lodce), M. Stewart fKupe Lodge). W. T. Hammond (Wildey Lodge), F. Phillips (Maracnni Lodge), and W. H. ainnro CPride of Karori Lodge). Bro. R. J. Mathers then presented a (ravel .to the D.D.G.M. to be used in-con-nection with official visits by lodses visiting within the district. Bro. G. F. Rndkin in accepting the gavel, stated that he hoped it would prove a further means of spreading fraternity in the order.
The recent meeting of Bellevue Lodge, No. 126, 1.0.0.F.. N.Z.. held' nt Lower Hutt, was presided over by the N.G., Bro. R A. Peterson. There was a large attendance. One new member was initiated. The following officers were elected for the current term:—N.G., Bro. MePhee; V.G., Bro. L. Grimes: recording secretary. Bro. Lovett; financial-secretary, Bro. Gandy; treasurer, Bro. Mncdonald. Bro. The fortnightly-meeting of Tlahiri P!ebckah Lodge, No. 40. I 0.0.F.. N.Z., was held recently. Sis. Milforrl. N.G., presiding. The election of officers resulted as follows:—N.G.. Sis. N.
