YACHTING

RACING AT PLIMMERTON

The race for the Radio Cup at PHnimerton on Saturday resulted in the boat* crossing the finishing line as follows:— Peggy, 4h 37m Os; Clyde, 4h 37m 40s; Kaiora, 4h 39m; Torment, 4h 4gm 425; Watti, 4h 50m 20s; Noleen, 4h 52m 10s; Tuakana, 4h 55m 355; Kamona, 4h 57m, 40s; Bonza, 5h 2m 555. An interesting feature of this race was the different classes of boats and the order in which they crossed the line. The first three were X class, tie second three Z class, and the last three Q class, and this made the race appear to be three separate races. The sailing conditions were ideal, being a north-east wind and a fairly smooth sea. All boats set spinnakers on the run. The course was a windward and leeward one, the distance three miles, boats sailing twice round. The race started punctually at 3.30 p.m., and the boats got away -well together.
