CEREAL DOING WELL

NEW PLYMOUTH HORSES

(Special from "Hurry On.")

NEW PLYMOUTH,, March .27.

The recent rains have left the New Plymouth track in splendid order, and the trial grass was freely used on Saturday morning by the horses with engagements at Stratford this week.

The first to -work was Cereal, who went five furlongs under a strong pull in lrain ssec. He has come through bis. Opunake racing well,- and will take his place in the field for, the Flying at Stratford .on Saturday. ■ '<

Glowlight and Merry Way went very evenly over six'furlongs in Imin Usec, and Were running on at the end. Merry Way disappointed at Opunake, bat'."may make amends at Stratford, where she will probably be ridden by R.- Reed. Glowlight . was a little lame when she pulled up, but the trouble is not serious.

Lucky Alice, Royal Bengal, and A'rvada all did pace work on the plough. Royal Bengal looks in wonderful order, but does not appear to be' quite able to win. He has teen second oii.no fewer than five occasions during the last Bis weeks. Refresher had Amyril as a companion over five furlongs on the plough, and was going better tKan the filly at the finish in lmin 4' l-ssec. He appears to be/improving with racing, and despite his 9.2 will be one of the favourites at Stratford on Saturday. ■. •. ■ . .

After a ; slow beginning, Lady Quex warmed up to her wOrk and ran half a mile on the;plough in' 51 l-ssee. - She has had quite jaV lot'of steady solid w6rk-of late,', and .a coiiple of rousing gallops should see' her ready for her task' on Saturday.
