ELECTROLYTIC ZINC.
The last four-weekly production of the Electrolytic Zinc Co. of Australasia, Ltd., compares with that of the previous period as follows:—
GENERAL INDUSTRIES, LTD.
The subsidiary: companies of General Industries,. Ltd., Sydney—Metters, Ltd , K.F.B. Foundry, Ltd., and Metters K.F.B. Proprietary, Ltd.—show a loss of £17,348 for the year ended December 31, 1932. This is an improvement of £51,118 on the results of the previous year, and" compares with a loss of £77,350 in 1930. The holding company, General Industries, Ltd., made a loss of £358 during the year ended February 28, compared with losses of £124 ai\d £694 respectively" in the two previous years. As a result of the subsidiary companies' loss, their . surplus of assets over liabilities has been further reduced by £17,348.
Dividend on the preference shares is in arrears as follows: For the year ended September 30, 1931,. at 7 per cent. ■ per annum, £20,554; for the year ended September 30, 1932, at £5 8s 6d per cent, per annum (as reduced by the Interest Eeduction Act), £15,929, and for five months ended February 28, 1933, £6637, or a total o£ £43,121. The directors state that the reduced trading losses show a gratifying improvement on the previous year's results. Sales for 1932 disclosed a progressive advance on those for 1931, but a further and considerable improvement is essential to enable the companies to utilise their extensive plants to full capacity.
