The annual match between the V.M.C.A. senior and junior Optimists' Clubs was played on Newtown Park on Saturday, and resulted in a win for the junior club. The seniors scored 76 and 151 for five wickets, declared (H. E. Wilson 43, R. H. Nimmo 3G retired, Knox 2C), and the junior team made 128 (R. Wright 30, H J. Steptoe 29, P. Clarke 20), and 89 for seven wieketa (Steptoe 22 not out P Clarke 19).
In a friendly match on Saturday between James Smith's and Todd Motors, James Smith's made 187 (Murdoch 38 Condliffe 37, Stone 28, Kilby 23). Bowling for Todd Motors, Collett took four for 38. Todd Motors made 134 (Kitto 55). Bowling for James Smith's, O'Sullivan took five for 32.
A game between the Money Order and Savings Bank and the Mail Room of the local Post Office resulted in a draw, each side making 172 runs. Batting for the Money Order and Savings Bank Department, Robinson made 48, and batting for the Mail Room, Brogan made 71.
