CYCLING STATUS

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
The executive of the Jfew' Zealand Cycling Federation, dealing -with the question of junior riders, has issued a ruling that riders under the age of sixteen years who competed as professionals in registered races infringed amateur status; such riders, however,' who competed for cash in unregistered races (business house sports, picnics, etc.) would not disqualify themselves.
A letter forwarded from the Otago Centre of the Xew Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union protesting against the attitude of the Otago Amateur Athletic Centre in refusing to co-operate in tha matter of combined meetingsivas considered by the federation. It was resolved '•That where. it is . found to be in ths interests of amateur, cycling, any application from a .professional body for permission to include amateur events in the programme shall be granted br amateur authorities." ■• . :
