The Governor-General' and Lady Bledisloe attended Divine Service at St. Mark's Church yesterday morning, and iii the evening were "present at the special service held in the Vivian Street Baptist Church to commemorate its fifty-fifth anniversary; , This evening his; Excellency : will leave Wellington by the Limited express in order to preside at the meeting of the Waitangi National Trust Board to be held at Waitangi on Thursday next. His Excellency will return to Wellington early next week.
Mr. A. St. J. Huddleston, who is succeeding Mr. C. M. Strouts as manager of the Masterton ljTaneh of the Bank of New South - Wales, arrived: from Tokomaru Bay -on TMirsday. Mr. Strouts is retiring, and Mr. Huddleston is taking over the managership of the branch at the. end of this month. ' The Secretary to the Treasury (Mr. A. D. Park), who was taken ill shortly after his return from the Ottawa Conference, has made1 an excellent recoyery and has resumed his •■■ duties at the Treasury. The Prime Minister (the Bt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) will. leave Wellington this evening for Auckland. The late Mr. Fraser was the eldest son of a onetime prominent Wellington City Councillor and legislator, the late Hon. F. H. Dr. ;David : Borrie, who's* death is reported - from Basra (Irak), was educated at the Otago -Boys' High School, the University of Otago, and the University of Edinburgh. He held several appointments in Scotland before going out to Mesopotamia, where he was for some time attached to the staff of the British Consulate. He saw; active service during the Great "War* He was a son of the Bey. David Borrie^ a well-known Presbyterian minister in.' Otago, but his parents are both dead. A brother, Dr. Gillies Borrie, is practising in Auckland, and another brother, Mr. John Borrie, is ■ a runholder in Hawke's Bay. One married sister lives - in Bagdad, and another,; Mrs. Dodds, is the wife of a Nelson chemist, while a single sister lives in Wellington. Dr. Borrie leaves, a widow and two children, a boy and a girl. Among the guests at the Midland Hotel are Judge and Mrs. Luxford (Apia), Mr, -and- Mrs.. W. Bartlejr (Singapore), Messrs. G. H.
