GISBORNE, March 24.

The two men who were arrested near Opotiki last week after a somewhat exciting man-hunt appeared in the Magistrate's Court at Gisbbrne today before Mr. Harper, S.M. The accused were \¥ilkin Bamsdon Avery, aged '25, and Alfred Norman O'Meara,.aged 30, who were jointly charged with breaking, entering, and theft in Gisborne, and with assault and robbery at Tokoinaru L Bay. , ■ • ■

The accused pleaded guilty to the first charge and were committed for sentence.

After lengthy evidence had been heard on the second charge'thc accusedpleaded not guilty arid were committed to the Supreme Court for :trial." .
