JOTTINGS IN GENERAL

• The Foxton.Racing Club has received a permit from the . New Zealand Racing Conference to hold one day of its abandoned January Meeting on Saturday, . .June .10 . The dividend paid by Chief Marionette at the Manawatu Meeting on Thursday is said by old. officials of the club to be the largest returned at a Manawatu Meeting since the course was shifted to Awapuni ' in'l9o3. '•••■■ ; Five more wins this week for K. Voitre ias.lifted his total to 85 wins, already two past his -last year's aggregate. ■ He has now lapped the next on the list, L. J. Ellis, whose total is 41. ' •■ . • : | Adventus,- winner of the second day's hurdles,at. Awapuni this week, has been up for only a short time, and he has im--1 proved- with every one of the four races .he has.had since his return. He is now being trained -at Bunnythorpe by the hurdle horseman, M. H. Nicol. •Silver Ring, one'of the disappointments of the early season, has been running out in a paddock on his. owner's property during the last few months, but:he will be brought in again after Easter. Te Hora has joined the jumping ranks at Te Eapa, and on Tuesday he gave a safe but unimpressive display over a round of fences. He will need a little more experience in this department before he can hope seriously to tackle the fences in company. . Last season and the season before Chopin had a very successful run in open handicaps, -but luck has turned on him this season. Thursday's win at Awapuni was his first since he hurried back from the New Zealand Cup Meeting to score at the Hawke's Bay" Meeting, held ori the same day as tho final day at Eiccarton, and it was only his second win this term. Excellent schooling displays were given at Te Eapa on Tuesday morning by Royal Visitor and Wilton, who were sent along separately. Both handled their fences in pleasing style-- and jumped confidently. High Commissioner and Twenty-four Carat also gave a creditable display. . Twentyfour Carat is shaping very pleasingly, and with a little more experience should pay expenses where the company is not over strong. The good but unsound jumper Singleton is again being exercised on the roads at Takanini, and he may resume work on the tracks shortly. In future he will carry the colours of Miss K. Smith, of Takanini, and it is possible that he will be entered for the hurdle races at Whangarei. Miss Smith formerly had the hunter Nuki Boy. It is probable that if Singleton/ stands up to his work that he will be qualified with • the Pakuranga Hunt. '
