KILBIRNIE ASSOCIATION

There was an excellent attendjnce at the first annual meeting of the Kilbirnie Home and School Association held recently. The president (Mr. J. H. McKay) outlined what had been accomplished during the year, and spoke appreciatively of the results that had been achieved in the raising of funds to assist the school committee, making special reference to the splendid efforts of the ladies comprising the dance committee. , In addition to purchasing boots, warm clothing, - and books for necessitous cases in the district, the association contributed substantially to the children's health camp at Otaki, the total sum raised for this purpose being over £20. A donation of £5 had also been made to the school's sports fund. The officers elected for the ensuing year are:—President, Mr. E. Wells; vice-president, Mr. F. M. Sherwood; hon. secretary, Mrs. M. Sherwood; hon. treasurer, Mr. J. Telford; hon. auditor, Mr. C. T. Cox; executive committee, Mesdames Taplin, McCune, Hitching, Messrs. A. Blackie, G. Taplin, E. Youle, and J. McCune.

It was decided to institute a campaign for the purpose of increasing the membership, thereby bringing . about closer,association and greater co-opera-tion between the parents and the school.
