CYCLING CONTROL

WELLINGTON REMITS

The following remits have been framed by the Wellington Cycling Centre to be placed before the conference of New Zealand cycling delegates in. Christchurch on March 10:-— (1) That the Wellington Cycling Centre is cf the opinion that all registration fees from cyclists be retained by the Hew Zealand body controlling amateur cycling. (2) That in the future national cycling championships consist of the following events:—One kilometre unpaced time trial, one kilometre sprint, five miles human-paced raze, and 100. kilometres time trial road race, all four events to be under Olympic conditions. . ; (3) That the cycling centres be constituted by ; delegates from purely cycling clubs:together with a member of the. athletic centre, and that thecyeling centre have one delegate on the A.A. Centre executive. (4) That the headquarters of the New. Zealand Cycling Council be transferred to Christchurch. (5) That the cycling centres where constituted have full control of local cycling, and. that no cycling competitions of any kind can take place without their authority. ■ ■When the remits were placed before the Wellington Amateur Athletic Centre last night, Mr. A. C. Kitto (president) and Mr. H. McCormick (chairman) suggested that the remits should be sent on to the New Zealand Cycling Council -without any recommendation. This course was followed. The Poneke Cycling Club Las forwarded a letter through the centre to the council indicating its desire in tno matter of representation at the conference. . The club's recommendation is "that all delegates to the cycling conference should be drawn from purely cycling bodies—two from each purely cycling club, two from the New Zealand Cycling Council, one from each cycling centre, and one from the N.Z. A.A. and C.A.'.f The club states that it is of the earnest opinion that cycling difficulties will be finally settled, ana trusts that the .council will give every consideration to the request.
