OLD BOYS AND HUTT
Continuing their first innings against Hutt on the Hutt Recreation Ground, Old .Boys took the score from 130 for six ■tickets to 195 for the innings, and thus defeated Hutt, who had made only 107/ Both sides played an excellent second inBings, but the time did not allow Old Boys to complete theirs. .
Burnette and Sadler were the Old Boys' iiot-out men with scores of ii and 3 respectively. Both continued well until Sadler was bowled by McCann for ">5 Browne, Duncan, and Bartlett were the other batsmen, in that order, and each was content to keep, his wicket intact for a small score and leave the run-getting to Burnette. When the innings closed just less than an hour after the start of play for the afternoon, the total was 195, to ■which Burnette had contributed an excellent 84 while keeping his wicket intact. One of the opening pair, he survived a < chance at 2 and another at 17, and hit ten fours and one six.
Bowling for Hute, McCann made good by taking five for 6S, and Judd did well, though not so well as usual, by baggin<* four for 75.
_ Hutt" in their second innings made 201 for nine wickets; Biggar was absent. Gwilliam and Boss opened, and the former was caught by James on the leg side off the second ball. Champness came and went, and then Eoss became entrenched with Warnes, "and the pair kept Old Boys busy in the field while putting on 119 for the third wicket. Ross's total was 73, including fourteen fours, and Warnes's 6S, including six fours and one six. Aim, who
was hit by a throw-in and had to retire hurt, returned later and made third best score with 36." ■--• ••■ - ■ ■
