When business is already difficult every little extra tax becomes serious. Though detailed figures have not been taken out, it is probable that the additional petrol tax and heavier charges for oil and replacement parts will add about £1000 per year to,the cost of the municipal bus services.

Though, drastic economies have been effected in. time-tables, there is, it is understood, still a considerable deficit on bus s< rvices, and 'tramway revenue is not such today as to allow heavy bus deficits to be regarded lightly.
