SECERETARY APPOINTED

At a, meeting of the Wellington Eipploy? ere* Association held.-yesterday afternoon Mr. W. J. Mountjoy was unanimously appointed secretary to fill the; vacancy, created by the resignation of MX Frank Ross, who relinquishes Ms.position from the end of the present month. " Mr. Mountjoy, who wag flora at limaru, received his schooling at Napier. He entered the building industry, which,: he followed both as a worker and laterras aa employer. He subsequently Joined the staff of the New Zealand Government Department of liabour, and held office at Auckland, Oamaru, JDunedin, .'New: Plymouth, and Wellington. For a number of years Mr. Mountjoy dealt chiefly-with matters relating to the application-of New, Zealand Labour laws to industry, a subject of which he made a close-study. Two and a half years ago he resigned!from the Department of Labour to take up the duties of assistant secretary and industrial adviser to the Wellington Employers^ Assi* ciatioD,. a position which he has held until his-appointment as" secretary. Since h« [has been with the Employers' Association much of his work has.been in connection with industrial disputes in the Arbitration I Court and Conciliation Council, and in his (new position he will continue to deal with I this branch of the Wellington Employers* Association's work, a branch which," owing to the conditions ruling and, the ■ recent amendment to the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, is at the present timp a most important branch of the organise tion's work. ...
