"Co-opted" by Ked Cross Society.

The Wellington Centre of the Ked Cross Society yesterday unanimously resolved to recommend to the New Zealand Council the co-opting, as a member of the council, of Miss Jerome fepencer, the founder in A'ew Zealand and present Chairman of the Dominion Federation of AVomen's Institutes, and that this lady go forward on her tour abroad m March with full credentials from the society. Support for V.M.C.A. The great need for continued support by the community was stressed by the president of the V.M.C.A., Mr. R. H. Nimnio, at a recent meeting of the Ladies' Auxiliary. Mrs. E. P. Hay presided at the meeting. The new hon secretary, Mrs. George Day, was welcomed. Mrs. Quinton outlined a scheme to hold a fair and promenade concert ■in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall m May, to which the auxiliary members enthusiastically agreed. Mr Nimmo thanked the Ladies' Auxiliary for the splendid work they proposed to do. Navy League Dance. The Wellington branch of the Navy League is arranging a dance to be held immediately after Easter when the New Zealand Squadron is at Wellington. b Women's Borstal Association. The. first meeting of the Women's Borstal Association for 1933 was held recently, when Teports of girls on probation wero received from "associates" in various parts, of New Zealand. Regret at the resignation of the hon. secretary, Mrs. Knight, was expressed, and Mrs. Coventry was appointed in her place. Correspondence was read from Sister Esther (of the Presbyterian Social Service, Auckland), expressing her willingness to act as an "associate" there in place of Miss Watkin, who had resigned owing to pressure of other work. The date of the annual meeting was discussed, and it was decided to leave all arrangements in the hands of a small'sub-committee.
