VISITING AMERICANS
YESTERDAY'S LUNCHEON
The visiting American tennis players and their wives were entertained at luncheon yesterday at the Hotel St. George by members of the American Club and their wives. The occasion was a delightfully informal one, with a complete absence of speeches, the visitors having had a surfeit of formal functions, speeches, and toasts during their long tour. Special tables^ were arranged in the Palm Lounge, and behind tho central table were hung the New Zealand and the American flags. Members of the New Zealand team picked to play against the Americans were also the guests of the club. Because of a previous engagement, the officials of the N.Z. Lawn Tennis Association were unable to accept the club's invitation. Mr. Erreld Martin (president) was host,_ and with Mr. Horace Miller (chairman of the entertainment committee) ana Mr. Eugene West (secretary) looked after tho entertainment of their guests., The visitors present were Mr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Vines, Mr. and Mrs. J. Van Eyn, Mr. Wilmer Allison, and Mr. K. Gledhill. Also present'wero Mr. Calvin M. Hitch (Consul-General for America) and Mrs. Hitch, Mr. B. Gotheb (American Consul for Wellington), Mr. and Mrs. Julian B. Poster, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene West, Mr. and Mrs. Erreld Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Miller, Dr. and Mrs. A. D. Park, Mr. and Mrs. •F. H. Whatloy, Mr. and Mrs. P. yon Schilling, Mr. .and Mrs. Mead Walworth, Mr. Quentin Sanders, Mr. D. M. Blackwelder, Mr. D. G. France, Mr C E. Malfroy, Mr. N. E. C. Wilson, Mr! C. Angas, Mr. E. D. Andrews, Mr. W A. Fisher, Mr. Byron Mills, and Mr. John Campbell.
