Mrs. G. W. Forbes returned to Wellington yesterday morning, after visitiiig Cheviot for the week-end. Mrs. John Brownlee, wife of the famous International baritone, ivill accompany her liusband on his Now Zealand tour, and will arrive in Wellington on 16th March. Lady Boys left Wellington last evening for Christehurch, after a visit to Waipukurau. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Boys have returned to Waipukurau after motoring to Auckland.. Mrs. W.. Priest, Timaru, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. George Shirtoliffo, Tinakdri road, returned. South last evening. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Wright, Hawkes Bay, are visiting their daughter Mrs. Frank Petre, Tinakori road. Miss Dinah Sloman, Tinakori road, left yesterday to-"stay -with Dr. and Mrs. Williams, Gisborne. Mr.' and Mrs. J. N. Lowry, Hawkes Bay, motored to Wellington to t^ee the tennis matches at Miramar to-day. Mrs. B. Welton Hogg (Grant road) and her. mother, Mrs. Kirkland (Sydney), have left for a tour of the Napier and Eotorua districts. Mrs. Vivian Ehind and family have returned to their home in Pipitea street, after spending the holidays at Heretaunga. Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Gourley returned to Wellington from Sydney by the Monowai on Monday, after an absence of some months. Mrs. A.. Humphries, Mayfair Flats, has returned to Wellington- from Nelson.. _'"•"■■■ Mrs. J. E. Huni and family have returned to Wellington after spending the holidays at Titahi'Bay. Mrs. John W. Bow.en, Melbournfe, and her daughters, Misses Joyce and Jean Bowen, arrived by the Monowai on Monday, and are the guests of Mr. and Mrs, A. Marsden, Oriental Bay. Miss Madeleine Clarke, advance manager for Mr. John Brownlee, who ■will make a itour of New1 Zealand next month, is at present in "Wellington, and will leave for Auckland at the end of the week. ■ Mrs. H. M. Stewart, England, who has been visiting Christchurch, has arrived in Wellington, and will join the Monowai for Sydney. Miss 0. Lee Poster, is a Wellington visitor to Christchurch. Mrs. E. T. Ward is a Wellington visitor to Auckland. '.; Miss G. M. MacPherson, who has been staying in Christchureh, came to Wellington ypsterday to join the Makura. ' ' ■ Mr. and Mrs. Denis Muir, Wellington, have left for the South after a visit to Timaiu. The party of boys, representing some of the principal public schools of England, who arrived at Auckland on Monday afternoon by the Eotorua from London to tour the Dominion, were met by their Auckland hosts and hostesses (states the "Now Zealand Herald"). The arrangements for the visitors were made by the Victoria League, the following ladies taking two boys each: Mrs. T. Eussell, Mrs. P. C. Mappin, Mrs. Preston Chambers, Mrs. H. Horton, Mrs. John Beidj Mrs. David Nathan, Mrs. Paul Cropper, Mrs. H. E. Vaile, Mrs. S. Thome George, Mrs. C. Whitney, Mrs. P. E. Skeates, Mrs.J. Somerville,.Mrs. David Smith, Mrs. W. Dove, and Mrs. J.M. Carpenter. Miss Nelle Scanlan, tho New Zealand author and journalist, who is revisiting Marlborough after an absence of several years, arrived in Picton on Saturday (states ..the " Marlborough Express"). She "was met at tho wharf by representative citizens, and in the evening delivered a very interesting address in the Navy League Hall in aid of the library funds. A gathering of old identities wa3 also held, and Miss Scanlan 'was afterwards entertained at supper. On Monday she planted a tree for the Beautifying Society on the foreshore in memory of her father and mother, who spent some years in Pieton when Sergt.-Major Scanlan was in.'charge- of the police. A reception in Miss Scanlan's honour was given by Miss Western on Monday afternoon. • Mrs. M. E. Bain, of Wanganui, is visiting Wellington, and is staying at the Hotel St. George. Mrs. E. F. Mitchell, Miss N. McLaren (Hinakura),.1 Mrs. H. Smith, Mrs. Binney, and MissPryde (Invercargill) are guests at the Empire Hotel. . Mrs. A. 0. Eoberts and Miss M. Walker, of Napier, and Mrs. L. Mills, of Palmerston North, are guests at the Eoyal Oak Hotel. Miss B. Hannah (Christchurch) and Mrs. E. Sharp (Auckland) are staying at the Grand Hotel.
