EXCHANGE OF GREETINGS

At the meeting of .the Senate of the New Zealand University to-day the Chancellor, Professor J. Maemillan Brown, said he had sent the following cable message to Lord Eutherford, at Cambridge, England:—"New Zealand University sends warm greetings from Antipodes to first dinner Empire universities." Lord Eutherford sent the following reply:—"lnaugural dinner New Zealand graduates in Great Britain send filial greetings to the chancellor and best wishes for the continuous and increasing success ■of our Alma Mater."

The chancellor remarked that at the date mentioned he heard that Lord Eutherford's mother had just attained her 90th year. He, therefore, had sent to Lord Eutherford the following cable message:—"May you enjoy your cosmic investigations as long as your mother —just reported ninety—her life."
