SOUTHERN ACTIVITY

(By Telegraph.) (Special to "The Evening Post.") . DUNEDIN, This Day. Satisfactory progress; is being made hy the Nokomai Gold Mining Company, Ltd., which expects to begin operations shortly. The excavator tower has been erected) complete with its necessary appurtenances. Tho power house and plant have been completed) and several trials have been made with eminently satisfactory results. Power is being continuously generated for use by an eleetrie welding plant, and it has also been available for preliminary tests of the drag-line bucket. This bucket digs well,, but owing to a few of _ the other parts of the plant not being quite ready it is not possible to run it more than just enough to '?run it in." Both Messrs. Whitaker (the designer.) and Medley (the operator) are exceedingly pleased with these preliminary trials. The conveyor system is nearly ready. Rollers, etc., are being put in place, and the belts themselves will be arranged very shortly. The washing or screening tower is also nearing completion, and the sluice-toxes are practically ready. With six' sluice-boxes, each of which is capable of handling 30 yards per Hour, some idea can be obtained of the capacity which the company hopes to reach in time.
