RAILWAY WORKERS

UNREST IN FREE STATE

COMPANIES1 LOSSES

LONDON, 22 nd November

The Dublin correspondent of "The Times" says that the latest development in the Free State is unrest among the railway workers, who are urging the I'ianna Pail to implement its election promises to reform transport and safeguard wages. Labour members of the Dail Eireann are sharply criticised for failure to insist upon the legislation necessary.

The railways are now facing bankruptcy. The receipts have fallen £■560,000 in 1932 compared with last year.

Under Mr. de Valera's economic policy the railways are losing £,14,000 a week and are forced to pay £52,000 more for coal yearly owing to the duties.

Labour is disappointed at Mr. de Valera's refusal to nationalise the railways. - . .. . " ■
