IMPORTS AND- EXPORTS
A summary of trade: statistics for the port of AVellington for the year ended 30th September "compared with' the figures for the previous, year, ended 30th September, 1931, was tabled at last night's meeting of the Wellington Harbour Board. This year's, figures in respect' of: the. total tonnage of all classes of cargo handled at the port show a decrease of 247,705. .While the statistics;reveal a. decrease in the tonnage of general cargo imports, there was an increase in the general cargo exports. More wool, hemp, and tow were, exported. The "butter tonnage handled was 2201 tons less than in the previous year, the figures respectively being 16,397 tons and 18,598 tons, but. there was an increase in the amounts of cheese and frozen meat exported. When these three commodities, butter, cheese, and frozen meat, are taken together, the result is I that the total tonnage exported shows an increase of -8380 tons. on the previous, year's total, or 8.4 per cent. General cargo imports: From British and foreign ports, 130,009 tons (200,704 tons), decrease, 70,695 tons; from coastal and Australian ports, 193,221 tons (213,842 tons), decrease 20,621; tons;' total inwards, 323,230 tons (414,546 tons), decrease 91,316 tons.
General cargo exports: To Engli:|i and foreign ports, 109,273.t0ns (96,671; tons), increase 12,602 to'Bs; to coastal and Australian ports, 113,925 tons (124,445 tons),' 'decrease 10,520 tons; total outwards, 223,198 tons (221,116 tons),' increase .2082, tons'.'
Wool outwards: Totals, 188,192 bales (179,834 bales), increase 7358 bales.

Butter, cheese,' and frozen meat to British and foreign ports (including transhipments): Totals, 108,551 tons (100,171 tons); increase 8380 tons.
Coal: Totals, 243,616 tons (301,228 tons); decrease 57,613 tons.
- Timber: Totals inwards and outwards, 4,080,692 sup. feet (10,513,048 sup. feet), decrease 6,432,356 sup. feet.
Oils in bulk (inwards, outwards, and transhipped): Totals; 298,927 tons (354,944 tons), decrease 56,017 tons.
Tonnage of all classes handled at the port:—Total ill wards, 743,564 (938,473), decrease 194,909. Total outr wards, 389,488 (392,763), decrease 3275. Total inwards, outwards,' and:transhipped, ■ 1,311,025 (1,558,730) decrease 247,705. .
