MORE FOR JAPAN

So far arrangements have been made to export over 12,000 tons of scrap steel from New Zealand to Japan. The demand continues, and at least two large cargo steamers'from Japan will pick up the scrap. The bnmnoh Maru is presently due at Auckland, where what is believed to be a full cargo will be awaiting her. Another vessel not yet named, will load at Auckland, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Places asfar remote from ports of shipment as Invercargill, Greymouth, and Wanganui will contribute scrap. The steel to'be exported will now be much in excess of the quantity first reported in this column on 27th October. The demand is for mild steel, i-ail-way scrap, preferred. The value of the steel at port of shipment is understood to be about 25s per ton. --•' In addition, handling -charges and other disbursements in New Zealand will amount to 6s 6d per ton. " ■ ■. .
