BRISK COMPETITION
Fnlted Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received 23rd 'November," 10 a.m.) LONDON, 22nd November. The November-December series of wool sales has opened.
Merinos are unchanged, but crossbreds are occasionally slightly easier. Brisk competition prevails.
Offerings at the first sale of the series to-day amounted to 8691 bales, including 2293 bales of New Zealand wools. Sales were about 6546 bales. Some withdrawals were made of fine merinos because the high limits fixed by.sellers were not reached ■when the wool was put up.
There was a good selection of wools offered, and a large attendance of buyers. Competition was keen and general. The French were very active owing to the favourable rate of exchange. Compared with the closing i rates of the October sales, inerinos, fine to medium quality, showed ho change; faulty lines were slightly easier. Coarse crossbreds were 5 per cent, lower. Others were unchanged. y.
