RELIEF OF DISTRESS
BROOKLYN DISTRICT
The. Key. Hercus presided over a meeting of the Brooklyn-Mornington-Vogeltown/:Citizens'- Belief: Committee iv the Brooklyn School'last evening.
The chairman reported that the various churches in the district co-operated in the managing of the soup kitchen, and that about fourteen gallons of soup was made daily, being supplied to men on relief works anil families. The meeting approved of what had been done, and special thanks were accorded to Mr. Warren for meat, Mr. Chamberlain and an anonymous helper for bread, Church Guilds for vegetables,' and another anonymous donor for barley and pepper. The chairman reported that the soup kitchen had now closed down after being in existence for three months. • ■ ■
The secretary reported that the depot was working satisfactorily. On the average for the past three weeks 88 families had been supplied weekly, a decrease on the last fiur months, when the average was 102 families per week. From the Is a week collection the sum of £.100 has. been raised during the last six months. The committee desire to thank all who have given to the fund.
