INCREASING WINDS
WEATHER FINE-AND WARM
Northerly winds, moderate generally at first, are likely to increase gradually in force, according to the weather forecast issued at noon to-day. The weather will still be fine and warm generally, although showers are probable in far southern districts. Later an increase in cloud may be expected in districts with a westerly aspect. '-■■-/.
An anticyclone still covers-'the Dominion, its centre to-day being over the northern half of the North Island. Since yesterday this anticyclone has intensified^ somewhat. ■ Fair to fine weather has prevailed in most districts, but in Otago and Southland conditions have been changeable and showery; Winds have been chiefly light to moderate, although strong at times in Cook and Foveaux. Straits. Northerlies have prevailed south of New Plymouth and Napier, winds thence northward being more variable.
Auckland had fair but dull weather yesterday, with a light and variable wind. Wellington enjoyed another beautifully fine day with a fresh N.N.W. wind. It was fine and sunny in Christchurch also, the wind there being a north-easterly breeze. The weather in Dunedin yesterday was unsettled, with occasional light showers.
