WARM WEATHER
SOON BECOMING - UNSETTLED ;
Eair, warm, and hazy weather is expected for the most part, according;to to-day's fdreeast, but it will be' showery in the far South', and: later conditions will become unsettled again in districts witti a . westerly aspect.-; Northerly winds, moderate generally, but becoming strong at times about and south of Cook Strait, are forecasted/ • Saturday was an unpleasant day generally, strong and squally northerly to westerly winds being associated with an intense westerly depression which was covering the Dominion. Rain, however, was | confined chiefly to districts with a westerly aspect. During Saturday night arid early yesterday morning the disturbance moved rapidly eastwards, and the southerly which then came up, except in the far South, was a mild one, and only,a few isolated showers accompanied it in the eastern districts. By yesterday, morning the weather had improved, and a fine day was experienced inimost parts with, moderate south-westerly to westerly winds prevailing. The far southern districts • have continued 'to experience unsettled showery weather. A moderate anticyclone is, moving over ,the Dominion to-day, its centre at present being located over the northern portion. /Auckland experienced fine weatlier both on Saturday and yesterday, but .light -showers .fell during Saturday niglit. On .Saturday, a! fresh -westerly wind blew, but it hadl changed to the south-west by yesterday. Wellington had a boisterous northerly oh Saturday the maximum'gost being at the rate of GO m.p.h. about v 3.30 p.m. : Early yester,day the wind changed, to a moderate aouth-westerly, but it soon "became northerly again. Yesterday; .was a beautiful fine, sunny day.: At' Christchurch oh Saturday it was cloudy, with a boisterous north-westerly wind in the afternoon. A south-westerly came up early on Sunday mpriiing, but only a traeo of rain. fell. Yesterday a fresh east-north-east wind ;blew, and the weather was bright and sunny At Dunedin the weather, though fine in the' morning on Saturday, wag dull intho afternoon, with some rain later,' when a' fresh south-westerly wind blew. Yesterday was fine!, but at 9 a.m. r to-day drizzling rain was falling.
