TRAMPERS AND TRAMPING
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—l hope rhy sense of humour willnever fail to make me see a really good joke, and since yesterday'l have been trying to see"through" a trespass-warning notice board; which may or may not be regarded as amusing. I espied it over.the week-end ■ on. a ramble over country just on the outskirts of the city, and "it 'was worded thus: "Notice to Trampers, Campers, and other Idle persons." Does the property owner concerned infer that they, the whole army o£ lovers of the wide-open spaces, are a' pack of idlers? As a frampe'r I know it is not so, for real .trampers have better things todo/anda man whose objective is, say, fifteen to twenty miles off has. no time during the course' o£ a week-end to idle. Also; not all trampers, who lay a worthy claim to the name, are to be regarded as irresponsible, who purposely go abroad-to create a new record in leaving gates open, breaking down fences, and causing fire to spread -^1 am etc., ..■.'■ .
