FIRE AT EASTBOURNE
Eastbourne's new water reticulatioE showed its worth on Saturday afternoon, when for the first time since its recent installation it was used for fire tighUng. As a.result of the v excellent pressure available, a fire in a building in Oroua street was quickly suppressed, nstead of destroying the building, as would probably have happened if the outbreak had occurred a week or so ago. Ihe building was a wooden one owned by Mr. S. Jackson, and occupied »nn /' Drninm«Htf. who lived in the upper floor and used the ground floor as a carpenter's workshop.
