Amy Johnson, in an article in tha "Daily Express," written before hei departure, says: "It is not 'a. pioneer flight, bat I want to be the first woman to fly solo on this route, and I -want to keep my hand in-for long-distance flying and satisfy myself with, regard to my powers of endurance. 33
Mollison, expressing the opinion that Amy would lop .ten hours off the record, says that she followed his advice to go all out while fresh and avoid Ms -experience of being behindhand, which' only necessitated long hops at the finish. .. ■■-..■■
