BUSINESS MEN'S TRIP
la the course of what is regarded as the best performance in commercial aviation in New Zealand to date Messrs E. E B. Worth,, of England, and H. T Memtt, of Auckland, arrived at the Eongotai Aerodrome on Thursday evening from Christehurch in the Auckland .Aero Club's Puss Moth, piloted by Captain J. D. Hewett holder of the record for a nonstop flight from Dunedin, to Auckland. Messrs. Worth and Merritt are on a business tour of the Dominion, and owing to the limited amount of time at Mr, Worth's disposal the tour as being made by air. It is expected that a trip pf about 2000 miles will be completed by 5 p.m. today after eleven days' travelling The party leff Mangere Aerodrome early on Tuesday morning last week and proceeded tff New Plymouth Hawera and Wanganui,. leaving oa the following for Palmerston North and Wellington.. Bongotai -was rea'eh6d at 6 p.m. on the Thursday, and on the following day the South Island flight was commenced. Throughout the trip the party has arrived at the. various stopping places either in accordance with, or ahead of, schedule, and three particularly busy days are completing the tour. ■ : .
After transacting business in Christchurch on Thursday afternoon, the men left at 5 p.m. for "Wellington and were at their hotel by 7.10 p.m.! '; They left Rongotai-shortly after midday yesterday to keep an appointment at Masterton in the lunch hour, and further business calls were made at Dannevirke and Hastings. Last night and.this morning were spent at Hastings, and tfie final stage of the return flight to Auckland was then to be commenced.
Although the conditions in Wellington to-day were not favourable to flying, good weather was being experienced in the Hawkes Bay district, and consequently it was expected that the flight would 'be- completed according to timetable.. .
