NEW GERMAN BATTLESHIPS
It .has been decided, to lay down at the Navy Yard at Wilhelmshaven a third motor battleship of the Deutschland type, and. we understand that in-ternal-combustion Diachinery of the same class as fitted in the Deutschland will be installed (states "The Motor Ship"). It comprises eight-6250 b.hip. M.A.N. double-acting two-stroke engines, driving two propellers through Vulcan hydraulic clutches and reduction gear. The second ship of the class is already under construction at the Navy Yard at Wilhelmshaven, and will probably be launched early next year or at the end of this year. She is also to have machinery similar to that in the Deutsehland.
A new whaling and sealing company is, according to a Norwegian publication, in course o£ formation at Sandefjord. The promoter is Mr. A. Andresen, who intends to start a companion modest lines for operations off the coast of Chile. Negotiations are being carried on regarding the purchase of a suitable .steamer of about 2000 tons dw. to serve as a factory ship, and also regarding the hire of-a -whale'catcher.
