LADY QUEX IN FORM
A FAST FIVE FURLONGS
(Special from "Hurry On.")
tfEW.PLYMOUTH, This Day.
Most of the horses in active training here .-will- be seen in action at FeUding, where the contingent from this centre promises to be a fairly strong one. The tracks continue to be hard and nearly all the galloping is taking place on the plough. The sprinters, Lady Quex and Orapai, continue to get through their tasks in good style, and: were associated over a vary fast five furlongs on Tuesday morning, when they ran that distance in 60% sec. Lady Quex was in front at the finish, but it was a fine piece of work on the part of both. Lady Quex will probably take her place in the open six at Takapuna, and Orapai will be found competing at Feilding.
Lucky Alice is improving all the time, arid, though she is being restricted to pace work, she is always anxious to go faster. R. Johnson lias worked a big improvement in this mare, and she will be very fit when he steps her out/ The two-year-old Bold Bid, who is to make his debut on the .second day at l?eildmg, was responsible for a nice half-mile during the week, and though he will lack racing experience, is expected to run prominently. He may be sent on to Woodville.
Merry Way-is getting plenty of solid work, and is thriving on' it. Though she may not be capable of winning at Feildmg, a race or two should come her way during the' Christmas and New Year circuit in Taranaki. She. is carrying more condition than formerly. Tigerism has freshened up a lot during the past week, and is working very freely again. Though his form so far this season has not been up to1 expectations, he is likely to demonstrate that he is better than his recent showings -would suggest. W. Mantle has Singer back in work, but the bongbird gelding is not getting any younger, and will be difficult to place "?7 tlat he is out of hacks. It is possible, however, that he may be given an opportunity of distinguishing himself over the small fences in the near futureGibraltar and Easter Time have been' physicked, and will be on the easy list for a few days. Neither has'any immediate engagements, and will probably be reserved for the holiday meetings. Their form this season has been very disappointing.
