LEVIN AND FEIUDING

HAWEKA, This Day.
The Hawera tracks are busy at present with tile preparation of horses for the Levin and Feilding Meetings. Hampden, Miss Cavendish, and Little Doubt are engaged at Levin, and about a dozen others wi m, be com Petin£ -at the Feilding fixture. Jhe tracks have been in excellent order and most of the. horses are well forward, some good track work having been performed.
J. Fryer returned from his Australian trip this week and was out supervising the work of his team on Thursday morning.- ■
Callapat is making improvement and should be a fit horse-for jumpiug events at the Christmas fixtures. He showedthat he has lost none of his dash by galloping half a mile in JMsee on Tuesday morning.
Awaken, who figures in the welter event on the first day at.Feilding, was sent over six furlongs on Thursday, and she accomplished her-task, in' good style in lmin 19sec. ,Lady Bent, a' maiden half-sister to Arikitea, brought her home the last three furlongs of her gallop in 39sec. Orby's Choice and Richfield were responsible for a good work-out over six furlongs. Moving away smartly they ran the first half-mile in 50% sec, finishing up in lmin 18soc. Richfield, who had an advantage in the weights, finished halt a length in front.
La Crown sprinted half a mile up: the back comfortably in 53sec, and has apparently recovered, from the soreness thai affected her. ' •
_ Carfex has been doing only; light tasks. since returning from Auckland, but may be given a race at the Woodville Meeting before' again tackling-. Auckland events at Christmas and the New Year.
Aga Khan has freshened up since his Christchurch trip, where he was unlucky. He was given' steady exercise and will be seen out at Feilding. Hampden finished in front of Miss Cavendish in a smart five furlongs bout compassed in" lmin 4 l-ssec.
Attentive continues to improve and in his last sprint went attractively over half a mile in fllsec, heating Chief Line by a length and a half. March Alone also went well over three ' furlongs for his first fast work, registering 37% sec. Constant Sun and Little Doubt went seven furlongs comfortably in lmin 36sec, neither being ridden out.
W. Pine's maiden, Royal Papa, is showing good track form, and is a likely one to secure a stake in maiden events during the holiday racing.
Besides March Alone, J. Fryer will hare his attention engaged in putting the finishing form on three three-year-olds—-Icier, by Nigger Minstrel from Ici, a Hunting Song—ldanoe filly, and a Weathervane— Margrethe gelding—all of whom are in nice condition for- the process.
Pescheira has riot done much solid work since the Waverley Meeting, but has sprinted over a couple of furlongs in taking manner. He is to race at Feilding, and should be in really excellent condition.
