The two-year-old entire.half-brother by Lord Quex to Gay Court 'is a recent addition to H. J. Benge's stable at Trentham. Gay Court's owner, Mr. H. J. Harman, jis a part-owner of the colt. .
Gustavo, the now five-year-old full-, brother'to Count Cavour, has made • his reappearance at Ricearton, looking big and hearty. His training is being supervised by \V. McDonald. ..
The crack steeplechaser Billy Boy was expected.to resume work at E'llerslie this week. He has been spelling since returning from Riccartori in August, and R. W. Lewis reports that he has done exceptionally well during his rest.
St. Roger, who was recently brought back into work at Trentliam, again began to show signs that lie might not stand up to hard training, and he has been sent down to Christchureh to be fired and blistered.
The Gisborne horse Black Songster is still located at Ellerslie, and is expected to remain until after the summer carnival. He has been on the easy list since competing at the Spring Meeting, and looked very bright and healthy when seen out at walking exercise this week.
According to a Riccarton report, Silver Ring is at present talcing things easily in a paddock at his stables, but he is being exercised regularly nnd if he goes on all right will be taken to Auckland for the Summer Meeting.
F. I). Jones is reported to be keeping Shatter up to the mark at Riccarton with ■the holiday period in view. Cloraine has been sent home. Jones has received a two-year-old filly by Arrowsmith—Comely and a two-year-old gelding by Robespierre —Chaeroriia: to break in, and lie has also taken up a three-year-old gplding by Greyspear from Imperial Molly.
On the second day at Te Rapa on Monday, Speedmint, who dropped out of the Waikato Cup iv favour of her stablemate, Royal Artist, -will probably'be one of the prime fancies in the Hamilton Handicap, one mile. Another interesting event on Monday will be the Waikato Hack Cup, one mile, which will probably lind Senorita in the limelight.
