By "sthoke" REGATTA DATE

FEBRUARY FAVOURED

WANGANUI" ASKED TO

CHANGE

The Council of the N.Z.A.R.A. has decided to ask the Wanganui Rowing Association to fix 25th February as the date for the New Zealand Championship Regatta. At a meeting of the council held this week it was considered that this was a more suitable date than 4th March in as mucn that it would permit the eight-oar interproyincial championship to be held at Wellington on 25th March and give a reasonable time for; the South Island crews to prepare for the big Otago regatta to be held, at Queenstown on Easter Saturday. Petone Club Notes. The race for the Petone Junior Fours open only to junior members of the club' was held last Saturday, Three crews' faced the starter, and the race was fairly even, the winning, crew, comprising J. Kodda (str), A. Parsonage, (3), K. Porter (2), L. ■ White (bow), who beat J. Clayton's crew by ono length, with Kerridgc's crew three lengths further back, third. The standard of rowing in the race was quite up to junior standard, the winning crew combining well and thoroughly ing their victory. Parsonage rowed a very fair race, and-if. he would only sit up in the boat, might possibly develop into a regatta man. J.: Clayton gave his crew plenty, of time, and rea.lly deserved a better result. Clayton looks very fit at' present, and appears a possibility as No. 2 in a maiden four. ■ ■ - ■ . ■ • s
